Our Core Principles
- Your information on the Xobni service belongs to you.
- We will help you to control your information.
- We will tell you what we do with your information.
- We will never spam you or abuse your information.
First let’s identify the three types of information that Xobni “sees.” Then we will detail how we get it, what we do with it, and how you can control it.
What types of information are we talking about?
- 1. Information you provide to us
- 2. Information from your accounts on non-Xobni services
- 3. Information that we collect when you use our website and Services (Services are defined in our Terms of Service)
Where is information stored and why does it matter?
Information can be stored on a local device, such as your computer or mobile phone (let’s call this stored “Locally”), stored on our secure servers (let’s call this the Xobni “Cloud”), or stored on third party servers such as LinkedIn or Facebook (let’s call these “External Servers”). It’s important to understand when information is stored Locally versus in the Cloud versus on External Servers: You can physically control what information is stored Locally, versus you can tell us what we can/cannot do with the information stored in the Cloud, versus you must tell the applicable third party service what to do with your information on External Servers.
Information You Provide to Us
When you register with Xobni, you provide us information to register and set up an account, including email, name, and billing and credit card information if you are buying premium services (“Registration Data”). We use this information to provide you the Services, send you Service related notices, including any notices required by law.
We also ask your permission to use your email address to send you other messages, such as newsletters, updates to features of the Service, or special offers. If you later want to opt-out or change your mailing preferences, go to http://www.xobni.com/account.
If you are using only Xobni for Outlook and not connecting to the Cloud (i.e., not making your Xobni data available to your other devices), our software will index your local computer’s information, and that index is stored on your local computer, not our servers. Xobni's servers will then occasionally record certain information about your use of the Service, such as basic log information, and will periodically exchange an "I'm here" ping with your computer that says your installation is active using your email address and IP address. This information is only used to provide you the Service and will not be made available to the public.
If you are using a Xobni service that connects to your mobile device (such as Xobni for Blackberry or Smartr™ Contacts), our software may index texts and phone log information from your device. You may opt-in to store this information in the Cloud, which allows you to access that information when you are away from your device, or you may decide to just keep an index stored Locally.
If you correspond with Xobni, we may retain the content of your messages, your email address and our responses.
If you invite a friend to try Xobni through our Service, we will use that friend's email address for the sole purpose of sending your invitation.

Information from your accounts on non-Xobni services (i.e., on External Servers)
When you authorize Xobni to access your accounts on third party, non-Xobni services (such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Gmail) you allow us to access your accounts and information on those External Servers, then collect, index and present the information back to you in a powerful, useful format. We never see or store your passwords from your other accounts. We store some of the information so that you can access it through the Service or to provide you enhanced features. We may at times also use the information internally, solely to improve the Service.
Again, you control your information, so if you want us to un-link from a third party account, or delete some or all such information from Xobni servers, you can do so by going to your account settings page http://www.xobni.com/account and the Xobni for Outlook options / integrations menu. And remember, your information stored on the External Servers cannot be controlled or changed by Xobni. If you want to change what other Xobni users can see about you from the External Servers (such as a profile photo), you must change your settings on your third party accounts.
Does Xobni send any information to the External Servers?
Xobni sends the emails addresses of your senders in your email messages to the External Servers (via their API) to see if your email senders are sharing their information from those External Servers. If the answer is yes, we make certain portions of that information visible to you inside Xobni.

Xobni does not claim any ownership of your indexed information.
How We Share Your Information
Personally Identifiable Information: Xobni will not rent or sell your personally identifiable information to others and will not share it with others, except as follows:
- Xobni may disclose such information (a) if we are required to do so by law or subpoena, (b) to enforce our terms and policies; or (c) to exercise or protect the rights, property, or safety of Xobni, our users or others.
- We may store information in physical locations outside the direct control of Xobni (for instance, on servers or databases co-located with hosting providers).
- Xobni may transfer such information if Xobni is acquired as a business or its assets are sold, as is typical when a business is acquired or merged.

How We Protect Your Information
Xobni employs well-established security measures to safeguard our systems and your information. However, we cannot control all the individuals and activities on the internet and elsewhere, and therefore cannot guarantee that such information will never be compromised.
It is our policy to provide notifications, whether such notifications are required by law or are for marketing or other business related purposes, to you via email notice or through conspicuous posting of such notice on our web page, as determined by Xobni in its sole discretion. We reserve the right to determine the form and means of providing notifications to you.
U.S. Based Service
Our center of operation is in the United States. Your data is held in the United States and transactions are processed in US Dollars on servers in the United States. As such, all data is held in accordance with United States laws and procedures which differ from those in other regions of the world, such as the European Union. By using this service, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to these data policies.
