Why won't Outlook quit properly when Xobni is installed?
Xobni has done extensive work to ensure that we do not impact the Outlook.exe process from closing properly. However, due to the platform nature of Outlook, it's possible that there is another add-in that is affecting your Outlook installation. We recommend that you try disabling other 3rd party add-ins and restarting Outlook to see if this clears up the issue.See this FAQ for how to disable third-party add-ins.
Please keep in mind that Xobni does not test all 3rd party add-ins for Outlook. There may be additional issues with other software that may result in Outlook not closing properly.
For example, we have seen instances where the Outlook iTunes add-in (installed with iTunes by default) can cause this issue. Also make sure that you are running the latest version of Google Desktop Search, if applicable.
It is also possible, for MS Exchange users, that you may have corrupt .ost or .pst files. You can repair these by running the ScanOST.exe and ScanPST applications. Please be sure that Outlook is not running before you start the scans.
You can find these applications by going to our Repair Console, located in the Control Panels > Add / Remove Programs (Vista/Win7 users look for 'Programs & Features').
1. Find the Xobni entry in the list, and click 'Uninstall' to launch the Console.
2. Click the 'Repair' button, and use the ScanPST and ScanOST controls there. Please continue to run the application until all problems have been repaired, you may need to run the application more than once.
If you don't see the Xobni Repair Console in the Control Panel, please update to the latest version of Xobni.
If you are using Skype and have integrated your Outlook Contacts into your Skype Contacts, it is possible that Skype is preventing Outlook from closing properly. To prevent this from happening, follow these steps:
1. Go to the Skype Contacts list.
2. Skype 3.x - In the 'View' menu, deselect "Show Outlook Contacts".
Skype 4.x - In the 'Contacts' menu, deselect "Show Outlook Contacts".
3. Quit Outlook, and Skype.
If the problem with closing Outlook continues after these solutions have been tried, please run Inspector X and submit a case for our Support Team.
