Most popular questions:

What is the "XobniService.exe" application?
The Xobni Service application allows us to download updates to Xobni as they are released. This service runs in the background, and should not interfere with any other system processes.

No personal data is transmitted via Xobni Service, so there is no need for concern about security.

How do I combine multiple email addresses into one contact?
Although Xobni is actually pretty good at automatically recognizes email aliases for one person and merging them, you can also do this manually.

If you want to merge a contact who has multiple email addresses please do the following:

1. In Outlook, click on an email from the person in question so that their profile appears in Xobni.

2. In the profile area (top section), right click on the person to bring up an 'edit contact information' menu.

3. Choose a name for your contact.

4. Follow the steps above for each alias you wish to merge with the new contact name.

Does Xobni support Outlook PST files?
Xobni does support Outlook PST files, along with Exchange and IMAP servers. If Xobni seems to be missing data from a PST or other email store, click on the Xobni menu (next to Help at the top) and go to 'Index All Mail'. Note that this process can take a while if you have lots of email. You might want to start it before going home or going to sleep.

I can't install Xobni. What's wrong?
The three most common cases for failure to install are:

  1. Unsupported configuration.
Make sure that you are running either Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Vista (32 or 64bit) and have Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 running. Windows 2000, Windows NT and other Windows operating systems will not run Xobni.
  2. You aren't logged into your computer with as a user with administrative privileges.
Make sure that you have administrative privileges, and if you don't, ask someone with administrative privileges on your computer to install Xobni.
  3. Your computer doesn't have the .Net framework installed, and it isn't connected to the internet when you try to install Xobni, so Xobni can't install the .Net framework.
When connected to the internet, download the .Net framework (available here), then install Xobni.

If none of those steps fixes your problem, please send us a message describing what you did, and the results, and we will try to help you.
